Russia's Population Fallout: The Aftermath of Communism

An Analogy

Once there was a boy named Alexander. Alexander lived with his parents and everything was provided for him. He was required to do some minimal work around the house, but for the most part, he was provided with food, shelther, etc. for free. However, when Alexander was 18, he had to go to college and live in the "real world". Because he had no previous experience fending for himself, Alexander was rather ill-prepared to deal with life. Initially, he was scared and wanted to return to his parent's house because that was all he had ever known, and that was what was safe to him. However, Alexander had to learn to take care of himself.

The Russian people are like Alexander because after Communism fell they were ill-prepared to provide and care for themselves.
