Dr. Marjorie H. Beaty Mathematics Scholarship
This award was established in July, 1982 in honor of Dr. Marjorie Beaty. with gifts from her two daughters, Debra Blanton and Mary Edelen. It was announced by Mary Edelen in Conjunction with the commencement address given by Dr. Beaty on July 30, 1082. Dr. Beaty retired from the department in 1976 after 45 years of distinguished teaching. [To be awarded to a student who has high academic qualities and is a South Dakota resident.]

Howard Connors Math Scholarship
This award was established in 1985 by Howard Connors to recognize his 40 years of service to USD. Mr. Connors taught math courses, served as Assistant Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Dean of Men, and was active in athletic programs t the University. Royal and Cora Scott Family Scholarship
This endowed fund was created in honor of Cora Scott and in memory of her husband Royal Scott. A native of Vermillion, Royal graduated cum laude in 1928 from USD with a degree in electrical engineering. After 30 years of federal service, Royal retired from NASA in 1966 and they returned to Vermillion. Royal died on April 29, 1999 at the age of 92. Their daughter Luann Scott Ouelette Graduated form USD in 1963 with a BA in mathematics. [To be awarded to a student in the Department of Mathematics.]

P Mu Epsilon is a national academic fraternity with active chapters in over 125 American colleges and universities. Historically the purpose of the fraternity has been the promotion of scholarship and interest in mathematics among students in universities and mathematically trained scientists in industry. Our chapter, South Dakota Alpha, was established here at USD on April 23, 1960.
