English 283, Creative Writing I, Sec. 35, Spring 2004, 9-9:50 MWF,

This course provides an opportunity to experiment in the writing of poetry, fiction, and drama. Students learn about the techniques and process of writing contemporary literature through the text Three Genres: the Writing of Poetry, Fiction and Drama (seventh edition). Students will have the opportunity to hear visiting authors. Other resources, including handouts, audiotapes, films, videotapes, performances and literary magazines, will supplement the text. Students will practice performing their written work. Through self- evaluation and the critiques of others, they will learn to edit and improve their writing.
