English for Teachers
On the Trail to Teaching English
Welcome to the syllaweb for English 408, the English methods course
at the University
of South Dakota. Paths throughout the syllaweb invite you to explore
and to discover more about the learning and teaching of English. As you
hike along this semester, stop often and look around with mind and heart.
Take time to explore back trails that beckon you. In this environment,
you may pick flowers with impunity! You'll find that your backpack will
expand, but will always have room for more.
This page is the home page of English for Teachers and the hub of trails
to its four main sites: What's New, Syllabus, Activities, and Resources.
Each is only a click away.
-
What's New
-
Here you can find the latest news--updates, new assignments, changes in
the syllabus, additions to Resources, and other late-breaking news. The
newest item always appears first. If you are taking this course, you should
check What's New once or twice a week. Although News items eventually migrate
to Syllabus, Activities, or Resources, they will always appear in What's
New first.
-
Syllabus
-
This site is a map of course policies, requirements, and calendar. The
calendar marks the trail with assignments and topics for each class day.
-
Activities
-
This site is a guidebook that explains major activities and projects of
the course.
-
Resources
-
This site is a virtual library of guides to trails beyond English 408.
Here you will discover a diversity of useful information, web sites, and
readings relating to the learning and teaching of English. You'll also
find directions for using technology in English 408.
