It would be horrible to miss the VLP Short Story Contest

You could win BIG BUCKS for writing a great short story!
The winning story will be published in the 2010 VLP Magazine and earns a whopping $200 prize. The second-place story will also be published in the magazine and snags a $50 gift certificate from Lied used bookstore, Vermillion.
The contest is open to anyone. Contestants should arrive no later than 11:45 a.m.at the McKusick Technology Center, Room 101.Computers will be available, but you can also handwrite your story. For a USD/Vermillion campus map, visit http://www.usd.edu/about-usd/campus-map.cfm
The catch? Contestants are given a theme, word, or phrase not revealed until the contest begins. Contestants must then write their entire story-start to finish-on-site in 3 hours, with the theme figuring prominently in the story. The 1st-and 2nd-place winners will be announced at the VLP Poetry Slam on Nov. 19, 7 p.m. (Coffee Shp Gallery, 24 W Main, Vermillion).

Fill out the form and mail with an entry fee check made out to the VLP, to: VLP, USD Dakota Hall 212, 414 E Clark, Vermillion SD 57069-2390 by Oct. 16, 2009 for early registration. After Oct. 16, and on the day of the contest, late registration fees will apply. You can also drop your form & fee off in the USD English Dept., Dakota Hall 212. Registration fees cannot be refunded.
