With 15 years experience as a professional director and actor, I began my academic career at Oberlin College in 1980, became Director of Theatre at St. Mary's College-Notre Dame in 1985 and joined the Department of Theatre at the University of South Dakota in 1992. My curriculum vitae includes both professional theatre and academic experience.
When I'm not in the office, classroom or rehearsal studio, my time at home
is shared with my two furkids Dylan and Rafe. For
some of my favorite pictures of the boys, visit My Sheltie Page.
Other interests include gardening - roses are my passion - vegetarian cooking and science fiction in any form.
My instructional areas are Voice and Movement for the Actor, Acting and Directing. Current research includes applications of the Alexander Technique to movement and the use of contact improvisation to develop communion between actors.
A classicist by training and experience, recent directing credits range from G.B. Shaw to Caryl Churchill.
Among my favorite web sites are The Shetland Sheepdog Homepage and The Dogpatch Sheltie Page . I also enjoy The American Rose Society Homepage. For a scenic look at my home state, visit The South Dakota Homepage.
